Free “Haleakalā Night” at the MACC, Oct. 18

The National Park Service and The Fund for People in Parks are hosting a free event 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in celebration of Haleakalā National Park.
The event will feature the premiere of the short film Haleakalā – A Rare and Sacred Landscape, and performances by four-time Grammy award-winning artist George Kahumoku, Jr and dances by Hālau Hula Wehena O Ke Ao.
A discussion with filmmaker Steve Bumgardner and park officials about what makes Haleakalā so unique and the importance of preserving it will precede this special screening.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
The event is free and is on a first-come, first-admitted basis.
