Acclaimed painter and naturalist Alexis Rockman will be the featured guest at the Merwin Conservancy’s Green Room literary and environmental salon series on October 27, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. His presentation will be held in the McCoy Studio Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

This is a very rare Hawai‘i appearance for Rockman, who lives and works in New York City and is often found traveling the world doing research for his artistic projects. He will give a presentation of his art works via slides, accompanied by a talk about his dynamic engagement with ecological change for over two decades.

Alexis is considered one of the “eco-warriors” of the art world. He works at the confluence of art and science and depicts ecological time and nature in a way that evokes science fiction as much as it does science illustration. Through his research and study involved in his work, he has been a close, intimate observer of ecological change for over two decades.

His presentation will be followed by a courtyard reception with a book signing, book fair, and refreshments. This event is presented by FIM Group with support from Atherton Family Foundation.
