Man Arrested in Alleged Assault at Kīhei Taco Bell

A suspect who allegedly threatened to stab employees of a fast food restaurant in Kīhei and assaulted the manager, was arrested.

Thirty-one-year-old Francisco Saenz, who has no local address, was charged with second degree assault, first degree terroristic threatening, harassment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

He was being held in lieu of $4,900 bail at last report.

The charges stem from an incident reported at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at the Taco Bell located at 1280 South Kīhei Road.

Police say the male suspect entered the restaurant, became belligerent and started yelling at employees.

According to police reports, the 33-year-old male manager of the restaurant asked the man to leave but he refused. When the manager grabbed the man’s belongings and tossed them outside the restaurant, the suspect reportedly took out a dangerous instrument and swung it at the manager, striking the manager before leaving the premises.

Police say the manager suffered multiple minor injuries as a result.

According to police reports, the man returned and continued to yell at employees, threatening to stab them again. He fled after police were called, but was detained shortly after along South Kīhei Road following a struggle with officers.
