Maui February Blood Bank Drive

Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi.

The Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi is hosting a series of blood drives on Maui throughout February.

According to the organization, one in seven people entering the hospital in Hawaiʻi will need blood, but only about 2% actually donate. The Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi says 200 blood donations are needed every day in Hawaiʻi to maintain an adequate blood supply and fulfill needs in the state.

Because each pint of whole blood is separated into three components – platelets, plasma, and red blood cells – organization leaders say one donation can help the lives of up to three people.

Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019
Location: Cameron Center, Auditorium
Time: 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019
Location: Kīhei Community Center, Community Room
Time: 10:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 22, 2019
Location: Baldwin High School, Multi-purpose room
Time: 7:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

General requirements to be a blood donor:

• Be in good health
• Be 18 years of age or older (16 to 17-year old donors with signed Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi parent/legal guardian consent)
• Weigh 110 pounds or more (Additional height/weight requirements apply for female donors 16 to 18 years old)
• Bring photo ID with date of birth
