One Acre Burned in Wailea Brush Fire

Approximately one acre of brush was burned in an afternoon fire in Wailea on Wednesday.

The incident was reported at around 4:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019.

Responding crews reported a working fire in heavy brush located adjacent to Wailea Alanui Drive and Heleuma Place.

Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro said firefighters were able to quickly knock down flames and the fire was declared contained at 5:05 p.m., and extinguished at 6:18 p.m.

There were no injuries or damages to report. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Two engines, a ladder truck and tanker responded.
