“I’ve been a pretty hyper-positive guy this entire time.  I’m one of the ones who has been pushing to keep pushing further, [search] father out than others would think.  I’m like man, she could have kept going.  She kept going east.  That’s what I would see in my head.  That’s what I would have done. I would have just kept going east, and sure enough, she kept going east,” said Javier Cantellops, search team leader for the volunteer effort to find Amanda.

“It’s not me. It’s everyone who came out.  All of the volunteers that kept pushing us forward.  All of the support from the Maui community that just helped us to continue, keep motivated, and continue to keep pushing forward that really made this happen,” said Javier Cantellops during a live video interview with Maui Now’s Wendy Osher at the Maui Memorial Medical Center on Friday night.

“As I’m going down, freaking out, I’m like (yelling) ‘Amanda! Do you recognize this voice!’ Cause as you guys can tell, I’ve got a really weird voice.  And she goes, ‘Javi?!’  And I was like, ‘Yes!’
