Haleakala Park Art Exhibit Showcases Rare Species

Haleakala National Park will showcase paintings of the park’s rare plants and animals in an exhibit at the Park headquarters Visitor Center, beginning December 3, 2011.
Some of the species featured in the exhibit include those threatened with extinction.
Splendor: Portraits of the Natural World is a travelling exhibit featuring artist and park ranger Melissa Chimera’s large-format paintings of rare species.
The public is invited to enjoy a rare glimpse of the mountain’s birds and flowers by viewing the exhibit at the visitor center, located at the 7,000 foot elevation.
Exhibit hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. daily.
