Afternoon Accident Slows Traffic on Honoapiiani Highway

At last report, the roads were clear, but traffic remained slow in the Kahului bound direction, with better movement after Olowalu. Lahaina bound traffic was flowing at last report.

The traffic delays are the result of an accident with injuries reported earlier this afternoon near McGregor Point in the pali section on the Honoapiilani Highway.

The vehicles involved in the accident were cleared from the roadway by 5:45 p.m., but it was taking some time for traffic to resume its normal flow.

Maui Police are responding to an auto accident near Mile Marker 8 of the Honoapiilani Highway.  This is in the vicinity of the scenic lookout of the Pali, near McGregor Point.

At 4:24 p.m., authorities said traffic was blocking traffic.  Crews were awaiting the arrival of tow trucks to remove the vehicles that were impeding traffic flow.

At around 4:07 p.m., motorists reported seeing ambulance and fire crews on scene, but said traffic was slow moving in the Lahiana-bound direction.

Two individuals were transported by medics for treatment of injuries.

Authorities ask that motorists please be patient as crews respond to the scene for cleanup.

Motorists can expect delays.
