Weekend Round-Up: Meet Marilyn Monroe, Paia Gives

‘MY WEEK WITH MARILYN’ FEATURED FIRST LIGHT FILM AND PRE-SHOW AUCTION Friday, December 23 at 6 p.m. at the MACC. Movie tickets are $12 per person.

Maui Film Festival’s First Light will present My Week With Marilyn, a film revealing secrets from one unrecorded week of the hugely famous Monroe’s life.

Before the show, Thee Salon will host a silent auction with proceeds going to Women Helping Women. The auction will offer certificates for several different services at Thee Salon.

As part of the silent auction, Thee Salon will dress several women as Marilyn Monroe in custom made clothing by Everything’s Rozy. The pieces worn will be inspired by Monroe at different stages of her life.

PAIA FOURTH FRIDAY TOWN PARTY/PAIA GIVES 2011 Friday, December 23 at several locations in Paia Town.

This month’s Paia Friday Town Party on December 23 will also function as the fifth annual “Paia Gives” charity fundraiser.

Each year, “Paia Gives” raises thousands of dollars for local charities while providing entertainment and shopping deals for visitors.

Starting at 6 p.m., many Paia businesses will donate their proceeds from special sales to non-profit organizations across Maui.

There will be two dance parties in town for Fourth Friday at Moana Cafe and Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon.

Nuff Said & Dani Girl will perform at Charley’s starting at 9 p.m. for a $10 cover charge and Moana will host a Christmas party beginning at 9:30 p.m. with music by special guest, Marasco.

Freshly made organic falafel plates will be sold at the Paia Courtyard starting at 5 p.m. Plates are $4 and include a half pita bread filled with three hot falafels, salad and tahini sauce.

Stores all over Paia will have their own small holiday parties and shopping specials in harmony with Paia Gives.

AMBROSIA CHRISTMAS WEEKEND PARTIES Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25 at 10 p.m. No cover charge.

For those who prefer to reject traditional Christmas family festivities and dance the night away, Ambrosia will host two late-night Christmas parties this weekend on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Ambrosia’s “Jingle Jam” party on Saturday night will feature DJ Decka and their Sunday night “Naughty or Nice” dance party will feature all-night dancing to DJ CIA.

Both parties will include Christmas drink specials such as $4 “Black Santa” shots and free entrance with a valid over-21 ID.
