Maui Historical Society Receives Funding From MECO
By Maui Now Staff
The Maui Historical Society received a $7,000 grant from Maui Electric Company for the installation of outdoor lighting and other electrical improvements.
The gift is in addition to funds received in 2008 and 2010 that facilitated work in bringing the aging electrical infrastructure at the Bailey House Museum up to date.
The new outdoor lighting project is expected to improve safety and allow the Maui Historical Society to hold evening functions including concerts and fundraising events on the museum grounds.
It will also make the Bailey House property available in the evening for community rentals such as wedding receptions and parties.
The Maui Historical Society was founded in 1951 and is the oldest historical and preservation society on Maui.
Its mission is to Collect, Preserve, Study, Interpret and Share the History, and Heritage of Maui.
