Suspect Sought in Stripping of Waimea Koa Trees

Police are seeking help in identifying those responsible for stripping the bark from several trees on the Big Island earlier this month.
Island police say two koa trees were stripped of most of their bark, and five calliandra trees were partially stripped.
The incident is believed to have occurred between Friday night, March 2nd, and Saturday morning, March 3rd at Waimea Ānuenue Park.
Police ask that anyone with any information on the person or persons responsible to call Officer Kristi Crivello at (808) 887-3080, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
