In the latest incident, units arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor of a two-story wooden home, according to authorities.

When firefighters made entry, they found a mattress on fire in a bedroom, and contained the fire to the room of origin, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

A total of six people live at the home, but all were out at the time of the fire, according to fire officials.
