The Maui County Film Office is sending out a casting call to all property and business owners on Maui, Molokai and Lanai to get their property listed in a new database being created for location scouts around the world.

“Could your backyard double as a jungle in Vietnam? Is your grandmother’s spooky old house the spitting image of the one from the Amityville Horror? Do you have beautiful beachfront property that looks like . . . well, beautiful beachfront property?” read a statement today from Maui’s film office.

The Maui County Film Office is encouraging Maui property owners to list their property on the department’s new webpage. Location scouts will use the database to find properties and owners could collect location fees for movie and television productions.

Property owners can find the database online at http://www.filmmaui.com/. Once there, owners can upload digital images of their property along with contact information.

“We promised that we would promote and stimulate the film industry here in Maui County and this is an important step,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa, in a written statement.

“This comprehensive database of crews, support services and locations is key, so let’s show off the beauty and diversity of our islands by filling up our online library.”

For more information, call Harry Donenfeld, the Maui County film commissioner at (808) 270-8237.
