Northwest Swell to Peak at 12 to 16 Feet on Molokai
By Wendy Osher
A high surf advisory has been issued for the north and west facing shores of Molokai until 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.
Forecasters from the National Weather Service say the west-northwest swell will peak at 12 to 16 feet early this evening, before declining. Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
Advisory conditions mean surf can produce strong rip currents and localized beach erosion. Beach goers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break due to the hazardous wave action.
A high tide of approximately 2 feet occurred at 7:05 a.m. The next high tide of approximately 0.8 feet is expected at 8 p.m.
