Joshua Wisch Appointed Deputy Director of Taxation

Governor Neil Abercrombie announced the appointment of Joshua Wisch as Deputy Director of the state Department of Taxation.

Wisch leaves his post as public information officer for the Department of the Attorney General to take on the new role.

Prior to his work with the state, Wisch was previously employed with the office of Congresswoman Mazie Hirono and as a litigation attorney at Honolulu law firms Chun Kerr Dodd Beaman and Wong, and Cades Schutte.

He will serve as deputy to former Maui Budget Director and current state Tax Department Director, Fred Pablo.

“Josh’s extensive experience and proven dedication to public service will be invaluable to the department,” said Governor Abercrombie in a media statement. “He will be a key asset as we continue to transform state government and improve services for the benefit of all people of Hawaii.”

Wisch received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, and is a member of the Hawaii Bar Association.

His new appointment takes effect tomorrow, December 11, 2012.
