There are several road improvement projects that begin this week on Maui.  The Maui County Department of Public Works is advising motorists of the following road improvement projects in Central and South Maui.

  • In Wailuku work is planned to resurface roads, fix manholes and water valves, and install pavement markings on Iao Valley Road, Church Street, and Kinipopo Road. The $584,000 project was awarded to Kupono Builders and is slated for completion on May 14. On the weekend both lanes of Church Street and Kinipopo Road will be closed in order to complete work as soon as possible.
  • In South Maui, a three-week project is planned at the Liloa Drive / Hale Kuai Street intersection to install new signs and raise the height of the median. The $15,000 project was awarded to Arisumi Brothers Inc.  Work is scheduled for completion on March 25.

Both projects will involve closing down one lane and contra-flowing traffic around construction work during weekdays.
