Northwest Swell Rolls in With 12-18 Foot Surf
By Wendy Osher
A north-northwest swell is building today, resulting in high surf advisory conditions by noon.
The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the north and west facing shores of Molokai and the north facing shores of Maui until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5.
Surf is expected to build to 12 to 18 feet along the north facing shores, and 8 to 12 feet along the affected west facing shorelines.
Beach goers, swimmers and surfers are advised to use caution and heed the advice of ocean safety officials.
High surf conditions can produce strong rip currents and localized beach erosion, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
