The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Molokai and north-facing shores of Maui, in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

An incoming northwest swell will produce hazardous surf along exposed north and west facing beaches tomorrow through Saturday afternoon, the weather service said.

It said surf will build to 15 to 20 feet Thursday and 18 to 24 feet Thursday night into Friday along north-facing shores of Molokai and Maui.
