The outage was first reported at 9:40 a.m., and power was restored to all remaining customers by 12:37 p.m., company officials said.

According to MECO spokesperson, Kauʻi Awai-Dickson, parts of Kaunakakai were brought back on-line at 11:38 a.m., and power to Hoʻolehua and the airport area was restored by around 11:43 a.m. Power to Molokaʻi’s west end was restored at 11:51 a.m., and customers in the Kualapuʻu area had power restored by 12:03 p.m., according to Awai-Dickson.   Remaining customers in Kaunakakai, she said, had power restored at 12:18 p.m.

“An investigation is underway as to the cause of the power outage,” said Awai-Dickson.
