“At the last open mic we had over 200 people come with their families. We want to showcase all the different talents in our community,” said Karyn Sarring, faculty advisor to the Music Club in an event announcement.

Keiki from kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to participate in the friendly competition. The 18th Annual Maui Youth ʻUkulele Contest will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Whaler’s Village in Kāʻanapali.

The “Halloween in Lahaina” festivities attracted approximately 28,000 people in 2013, and continues to be promoted as a family friendly event since being reintroduced in 2011 after a lengthy court battle.
