Unemployment rates in Maui County increased on Maui, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi from month before levels, with Lānaʻi bringing in the most impressive rate of 2.5%, the lowest in the state.

Hawaiian Airlines announced the effective immediately, guests holding tickets for company flights scheduled between Oct. 16 and 19, 2014, will be allowed to change their reservation without being charged a fee.

Interisland Air Carrier Island Air announced today that it will be suspending flights servicing the islands of Maui and Lānaʻi beginning in the afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 18, and will suspend all flights on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014.

Maui police anticipate a crowd of at least 30,000 at the upcoming Halloween festivities in Lahaina this year, in part because the event falls on a Friday, just ahead of the weekend. The projections are slightly ahead of last year when an estimated 28,000 people attended the event.

A new Sensory Therapy Room in Imua’s new Early Childhood Development Center will be named in honor of Roy Yamaguchi, Roy’s Restaurants of Hawaiʻi, and the Roy’s Golf Classic Tournament, which raised $45,000 this year during the 17th Annual event.
