Dr. Michael H. Dang Maui Gets New Heart Surgeon on Valentine’s Day

Dr. Dang previously served as the Chief of Surgery and Chief of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery at The Queen’s Medical Center. In his new capacity on Maui, he will join the Maui Heart and Vascular Clinic located at 1849 Wili Pa Loop in Wailuku.

Four Maui students are the recipients of scholarships established to promote and support careers in dental hygiene. The students are all graduates of the University of Hawaii Maui College, and are enrolled in their first year of the college’s dental hygiene program.

In Hawaii, only 2% of the eligible population donates blood, and more donors are always needed. Maui donors will receive a special “Pint-for-a-Pint” ice cream coupon for donating blood during the December Blood Bank drive on the Valley Ise.

The Hawai’i State Department of Health today announced the release of a new series of influenza education videos.
Working in partnership with the Department of Education and private schools, the video series was developed with input from students and teachers as well as community pediatricians.

Hepatitis B and C are the most common known causes of liver cancer in Hawai’i, and Hawai‘i has the highest rate of liver cancer in the US. According to Hawai‘i State Department of Health estimates, about 50,000 people in Hawai‘i may be living with hepatitis B and C, and most of them are not in treatment or have even sought medical care.

A benefit concert, “And The Beat Goes On,” will be held for Ioane Lepisi Jr., a seven-month-old Maui baby who was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome in April of 2011.
