Maui’s Warrior Elite All-Stars Cheerleading Club captured top honors in the Youth Level 1 (ages 8-12) and Junior Level 2 (9-14) divisions at the Contest of Champions 2013 Nationals competition held Sunday, March 3, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Hawaii’s quarterback coaching guru Vince Passas conducted a free two-hour “Quarterback / Receiver Clinic” for a dozen quarterbacks and more than 30 receivers Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

Lahainaluna High School’s Hercules Mataafa pinned both his opponents Friday and remains one win from a possible rematch with Kamehameha-Kapalama’s Dane Pestano, the wrestler who denied the Maui Interscholastic League champion a state gold medal a year ago in the boys 215 pound weight class.
