For the second straight day Mother Nature got the best of Kapalua, forcing PGA Tour officials to postpone the opening round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions to Sunday.

Mother Nature reared its ugly head at Kapalua Friday in the form of violent wind and rain, forcing PGA TOUR officials to wipe out the first round of the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Erratic weather conditions at Kapalua have shut down the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions, which was due to tee off today and run through Monday at The Plantation Course.

Maui High School — 65 players strong — captured lightning in a bottle Saturday, outplaying Baldwin 42-0 in the Valley Isle’s first Alumni Football USA game.

University of Hawaii offensive coordinator Tommy Lee announced his retirement from coaching effective immediately. Lee, a Honolulu native who has a coaching resume that spans more than 40 years, spent his only season with the Warriors as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
