The giant-killers from St. Louis Heights on Oahu were at it again. This time Chaminade knocked off Texas, 86-73, before a prime-time televised audience opposite Monday Night Football at the Lahaina Civic Center.

If the first game of the 29th edition of the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational is any indication of what’s to come over the next two days, tournament officials can expect television ratings to spike to record numbers.

Southern California will be looking for its first 3-0 start since 2000-2001 season when it opens with unbeaten Illinois (3-0) in Monday’s opening-round night cap of the 2012 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.


The Lahainaluna High School cheerleaders are freshmen Karley Keanini, Kiana Nakoa, Sharmaine Guiterez; sophomore Courtney Ruidas; and juniors Breea Yamat, Karen Galuardo, Taylor Trout, Erica Sanchez, and Kelsey Shultz. The University of Hawai’i Warrior football team saw its losing streak extend to seven games following a 49-14 loss to Boise State, Saturday in a nationally televised game at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium.
