SNOWFALL UPDATE with Meteorologist Malika Dudley
A powerful winter storm continues to impact the state. One of the impacts that has gone viral is snow on Haleakalā! Indeed a Winter Weather Advisory is posted for the summit of Haleakalā above 8000 feet through 6 PM this evening. (*NEW INFO* Extended to 6 am Monday morning)
The forecast called for up to 3 inches of snow and sustained winds blowing from 45 to 65 mph with gusts up to 85 mph. The National Weather Service says “the snow will be locally heavy as intense snow showers move through.“ Additional accumulations of up to 1” are forecasted.
