During its grand opening celebration in 1974, there were a total of 48 stores. Now, four decades later, the center has over 100 stores, restaurants, theaters and services, and is host to over 200 community events each year.
The County of Maui celebrated the holiday season with a tree lighting ceremony on the lawn of the County Building in Wailuku Wednesday night. “When you look at all of the people in our community, you just have to realize how blessed we are,” said Mayor Arakawa.
This weekend feels short, but fit the fun in, with dinner and music, a summer bash at Piilani Shopping Center, and some culture at I’ao Theatre and the Steppingstone Playhouse at Queen Ka’ahumanu Mall.
