The American Red Cross and the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) are the receipients of $100,000 contributed by Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. (HEI) along with its subsidiaries American Savings Bank, Hawaiian Electric Company, Hawaii Electric Light Company and Maui Electric Company to support recovery efforts from the Japan earthquake and tsunami aftermath.

Maui County fire fighters battling a fast moving brush fire that had scorched 2,300 acres in the West Maui Mountains will receive federal aid.  The announcement was made this morning by U.S. Senators Daniel K.
