Zolten Poulsen paced Maui Prep to their third straight boy’s win, while Maui Christian won the girl’s title behind Lila Sloan at the third Maui Interscholastic League surf contest, Saturday at Kokī Beach in Hāna.

Maui Prep won the boys’ crown, while their West Maui rival, Lahainaluna, took the girls’ division at the first Maui Interscholastic League surf contest of the season, Saturday at D.T. Fleming Beach Park.

The offensive explosion broke numerous records, including the King Kekaulike High School record for points scored and the prep football record for total points in a game on Maui.

The Spartans are headed to the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA Division II state tournament May 8-10 on O’ahu.

Spartans beat Bears 2-1 in scrimmage to prepare both for the state tournaments this week

Four swimmers — Lahainaluna’s Jake McGill, King Kekaulike’s Xander Hurst, Maui Prep’s Sacha Salem and Maui High’s Aika Swanson — won two individual events on Saturday at the Kīhei Aquatic Center.
