PHOTO GALLERY: Multiple Central Maui Fires Under Investigation After Evacuations and Roadway Closures

Maui fire crews extinguished multiple brush fires in the Central Maui area on Thursday, May 12. The Maui Fire Department confirmed that seven fire calls within a 90-minute time span in Central Maui were suspicious in nature and under investigation. Full report here.

Maui fire crews are battling multiple brush fires in the Central Maui area. The fires have resulted in the temporary closure of the Kahekili Highway in Wailuku, and the Maui Veterans Highway in Puʻunēnē. There’s also evacuations underway on Kamaile Street in Wailuku Country Estates.

Update: Crews douse brush fire along Haleakalā Highway

Maui fire crews and first responders are on the scene of a brush fire along the Haleakalā Highway. Motorists reported seeing smoke and flames in the area off of the shoulder of the highway in makai bound direction.

Makawao Fire Burns Two Acres of Heavy Brush

A fire in Makawao burned two acres of heavy brush before being brought under control on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze was declared 100% contained at 3:54 p.m.

Fire off Pūlehu Road Burns 2 Acres of Brush

Crews had the fire 100% contained within an hour, and remained on scene into the evening to conduct mop-up operations.

Brush Fire Off Maui Lani Pkwy Results in Partial Road Closure

Due to a brushfire across from the LDS Church on Maui Lani Parkway, the road is closed from the roundabout, mauka bound lane. Motorists are asked to please avoid the area.

UPDATE: Kahoma Fire Burns 10 Acres in West Maui, 100% Contained

A fire in the Kahoma area of West Maui has burned 10 acres and is 100% contained as of 3:41 p.m.  The fire was first reported at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, in a ridge area mauka of the Lahaina Bypass.

Waikō Fire Burns 1.32 Acres of Brush and Kiawe

A Sunday afternoon brush fire near the Kūihelani Highway, Waikō Road intersection burned an estimated 1.32 acres of brush and kiawe before being brought under control.

Ho‘olehua Brush Fire on Moloka‘i Burns 20 Acres, 100% Contained

The fire was first reported at 2:56 p.m. in the area of Puʻu Kapele Avenue.  Fire crews gained 100% containment at 5 p.m. and mop-up operations continued into the evening.

Maui fire crews are battling a brush fire in gulch below Hāliʻimaile Road on Maui.   At around 5 p.m. precautionary evacuations were being conducted for homes along Aoiki Street and the makai side of Leie Street.

A mid-day fire burned a quarter acre of brush in Puʻunēnē before being brought under control a short time later.

A brush fire burning mauna of the Piʻilani Highway in East Maui has forced the closure of a portion of the highway.  The blaze was moving northwest toward the Kahikinui subdivision and residents of at least a dozen homes were being evacuated.

Honoapiʻilani Highway is now OPEN in both directions. It was closed for over an hour between 3:20 and 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, while crews worked to put out several small brush fires from Māʻalaea to Ukumehame.
