The Ka’apuni marchers completed a 193 mile trek abound Maui with renewed faith and hope for the future. In closing out the seven day journey, event organizer Ke’eaumoku Kapu reflected upon the kupuna and ancestors who he said serve as a source of light for the next generation.

Nearly 200 people joined in the week-long Kaapuni procession as it reached North Kihei last night. Much of the energy for the day was focused on the U.S. Supreme Court hearing over ceded lands.

The torch lit procession for unity in the Native Hawaiian Community is rounding out its first full day of walking. The journey started at Moku’ula in Lahaina at midnight on Friday and by 7 o’clock tonight was exiting the West Maui Mountains.
