Applications for annual federally funded energy credit assistance for low-income residents, who are not in crisis but require help to pay their heating and cooling bills, are now being accepted via mail or in-person through the end of June.

Electric customers in need may apply for a one-time credit to reduce their energy bills under LIHEAP–the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

A Citizenship Clinic to assist individuals with their US Citizenship application will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at the Maui Economic Opportunity Family Center in Wailuku.

A total of $1,215,700 was raised so far from the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association’s Visitor Industry Charity Walk, surpassing the previous year and continuing the 7th year of breaking $1 million for Maui County’s communities.

The deadline for ‘Imi Pono: The Greatest Challenge, which this year calls on Maui County high school and intermediate youth to develop an anti-vaping media campaign, is a week away – Thursday, March 23 – with top prizes of $1,000. 

The program provides low-income seniors with $50 in coupons for fresh produce from Maui farmers markets. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis with about 1,260 coupon packets to be distributed.

The deadline for the ‘Imi Pono: The Greatest Challenge, which offers cash prizes of up to $700 for high school and middle school students to develop an anti-vaping campaign, is fast approaching – on March 23.
