Maui High’s Hall of Honor was created in 2011 and annually recognizes individuals with ties to Maui High School who have made outstanding contributions to the legacy of our school and to our school community.

Just one day before the 20 public schools of the Baldwin-Kekaulike-Maui complex area were set to reopen after the winter break, a letter was sent to staff, parents and guardians stating the scheduled shift to blended learning would be delayed until Feb. 1.

Three Maui students were awarded $5,000 scholarships from Hawai’i State Federal Credit Union to help them pursue higher education at an accredited university, college or trade/vocational school.

The Construction Industry of Maui (CIM), a trade council of the Maui Chamber of Commerce, announced its two scholarship recipients for 2020. This year each recipient was awarded $15,000. 

Shania Pinheiro of Maui High School will attend Grand Canyon University with plans to major in psychology and minor in Spanish. Wendellyn Enosara of King Kekaulike High School will attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa to study biochemistry, with the goal of becoming a pharmacist.  

Maui High School announced Timothy Akina, Jr. as its new head boys’ soccer coach. Akina has more than 23 years of experience as a head soccer coach and official at both the youth and high school levels.

This year’s recipients are Romelyn Tabangcura from Maui High School, Griffin Hardy from King Kekaulike High School, and Tiana Irvine from Kamehameha Schools Maui.

College-bound seniors graduating this year from Maui High School and King Kekaulike High School who have completed their respective school’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program will each receive a one-time, $2,500 grant, to help with college expenses.

Competition to feature student work from Baldwin High School, Maui High School, Sacred Hearts School and St. Anthony High School.

Submissions due by March 15.

Nearly 200 students enjoyed a day of culture and competition during the 3rd annual Maui Middle School Makahiki Championships, which  was held at the Maui High School campus this past Friday. 

The 2020 Maui Middle School Makahiki Championships will be held at Maui High School on Jan. 31.

Two members of the Westboro Baptist Church out of Topeka, Kansas held signs and played music today as a protest to transgender inclusion at a school on Maui.

American Savings Bank launched the bi-annual contest in 2015. This year, ASB received more than 300 entries from 33 schools statewide. 

A total of 89 grants were distributed to public school teachers across Oʻahu, Maui, Lānaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island to help purchase classroom supplies and enhance student curriculums.

The Charles & Mitch Ota Foundation, a Maui-based Hawaiʻi nonprofit corporation, gifted the school with 33 Google Chromebooks and accessories for use by students in the school’s AVID program.

The Maui High School Marching Band captured first place in the Western Bands Association Conquistador Classic marching competition held in Chino, California over the weekend.

Maui High School junior Hunter Shields took the boy’s cross country state title at Seabury Hall on Saturday. 

Jessica Adkins and Kaui Spitalsky were among the 13 finalists for this yearʻs state Teacher of the Year Award.

The Maui High School marching band is invited to perform at the Western Band Association’s Conquistador Classic next month in Chino, California.
