The Hawaii Tourism Authority, the state’s tourism agency, is forecasting 7.7% growth in total scheduled nonstop air seats to Hawaii in 2012.

Hawaiian Airlines is expanding its operations to create a Maui hub, the airline announced today.

On Maui, scheduled nonstop seats from the US market is expected to increase 1.5% fueled by a 3.5% increase in the number of scheduled nonstop flights. Maui’s US West market is expected to increase 2.6% in the first quarter, by a 4% increase in the number of scheduled nonstop flights.
