The incident was reported at 6:09 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, on the Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30) intersection with Puukolii Road and Kai Ala Drive.

The Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30) was reopened at 11:21 p.m. following a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Further details are pending release.

One man is dead and another was transported to the hospital in serious condition following a head-on collision on the Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30) this morning.

Both individuals had to be extricated from the vehicle they were in when a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crossed the solid yellow center line.

TRAFFIC UPDATE: 5:55 p.m. 8/30/12. The Honoapiilani – Hwy 30 at mile marker 12 in Ukumehame is now OPEN.

By 12:50 a.m., the Highway was completely open in both directions, and traffic was allowed to resume its normal two-lane flow. The accident was reported near mile marker 11, on the Lahaina side of the pali tunnel.

Repairs will begin on Monday, July 16, 2012, and will include work along the Hana Highway at mileposts 10.4, 14, and 16.

The Hana Highway (Hwy 360) is now open at mile marker 26 in Nahiku. Crews were alternating traffic using one lane because of a large tree and utility lines that were blocking the highway.

Maui police say repairs to a utility pole forced the lengthy 10-hour closure of Kaupakalua Road in Haiku overnight. The closure went into effect at 8:24 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012, and lasted until 6:30 a.m. today.

An increase in illegal dumping, brush fires and criminal activity will result in the permanent closure of a portion of Kala Road near the Kahului Airport on Maui.

The vehicle struck the guardrail; and then became impaled by the guardrail–which went through the front windshield and exited through the back windshield. The 22-year-old woman driving the car was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening head injuries

Maui police have identified the male pedestrian killed in an afternoon traffic accident on the Mokulele Highway on Christmas Eve as 17-year-old Zachariah Aubut.

The vehicles involved in the accident were cleared from the roadway by 5:45 p.m., but it was taking some time for traffic to resume its normal flow.

Maui police reopened Kauhikoa Road in Haiku at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011. The road was closed earlier in the day as crews worked to repair a downed electrical pole.

Piiholo Road in Makawao is now re-opened. It was closed earlier this morning because of a downed tree near mile marker 1.
