Travel Advisory issued for Hawaiʻi airports amid severe weather

A travel advisory has been issued for Hawaiʻi Airports as severe weather conditions persist statewide. The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises travelers to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled departure time for transpacific flights and at least 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure time for interisland flights.

HDOT updates travelers on arrival and departure programs

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises travelers that, due to the ongoing partial federal government shutdown, the US Department of Homeland Security has suspended Global Entry for arriving international passengers.

FAA flight reductions begin at Honolulu International Airport

The US Department of Transportation confirmed that Daniel K. Inouye Honolulu International Airport is among the 40 US airports that must reduce air traffic. The reductions will occur in phases, with a 4% reduction beginning today (Friday, Nov. 7), an 8% reduction by Thursday, Nov. 13 and the required 10% reduction by Friday, Nov. 14.

This exemption allows the carriers, which are respectively the fifth and tenth largest domestic airlines, to finalize their merger while maintaining separate operations until DOT rules on their transfer application.

FAA awards $8.6M for Kahului Airport TSA security screening checkpoint facility

The award includes $8.6 million to Kahului Airport for construction of a new two-story security screening checkpoint facility at the south end of the ticket lobby (South TSA Checkpoint). Repairs at Daniel K Inouye International Airport to result in temporary runway closure

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will temporarily close Runway 8R/26L at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for taxiway and runway repairs. All other runways at HNL will be available for operations and HDOT has coordinated with airlines and other partners to minimize impacts to flights.
