The Women Helping Women West Maui Task Force will kick off October Domestic Violence Awareness Month with its seventh annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event at Lahaina Cannery on Saturday, Sept.

The Board of Directors of The Maui Farm announced the hiring of Stacey Moniz as its new Executive Director after the retirement Paula Ambre. 

The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui and Pukalani Superette will host Rotary Helping Women, the club’s fifth annual golf tournament fundraiser, on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at the Pukalani Country Club.

Event proceeds go to funding emergency shelters and support programs for victims of domestic violence on Maui and Lānaʻi.

Thanks to the donations from customers, Pukalani Superette made donations totaling $3,507 to four of Maui’s elementary Schools and to Maui’s Women Helping Women

The new Women Helping Women’s emergency domestic violence shelter on Lānaʻi will receive support from volunteers during a service project this weekend.

The Women Helping Women West Maui Task Force will host its 5th Annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event on Saturday Oct. 1, at The Outlets of Maui in Lahaina.

The vigil will honor Maui’s most recent victim, Leticia Basuel. Candles will also be lit for Kehau Farias, Aracely Hoffman, Clara Hoffman and John Hoffman, Jr.

“The sad thing also about this situation is that Kehau really did do everything we would suggest. She went to the store, she didn’t go by herself. Someone went with her. She got a restraining order. When he violated the restraining order, she called the police. The police arrested him. Everything was working the way it was supposed to work, and I think that’s what makes this doubly tragic,” said Moniz.

Yamashita brings more than 10 years of nonprofit experience to the organization, most recently serving as the deputy director of Women Helping Women Maui.

Hard Rock Cafe Maui is currently looking for volunteers to help distribute free Thanksgiving lunch to the homeless, hungry, or those who have fallen on tough times this year.

Women Helping Women and the West Maui Domestic Violence Task Force invite the public to join the walk on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Whaler’s Village in Kāʻanapali.

Community partners from across the County were recognized today at Maui United Way’s the 46th Annual Meeting and Recognition Luncheon held at the Kamehameha Golf Course Clubhouse in Waikapū. This year alone, community partners contributed $943,040 toward the 2014-2015 campaign, which funded 40 nonprofit agencies and their various social service programs countywide.

A blessing ceremony was held last week at the Women Helping Women shelter for women and children on Maui following a six week renovation of the facility.

The Women Helping Women organization on Maui will host its 18th annual elegant tea fundraiser on Sunday, March 8, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapū.

The West Maui Domestic Violence Task Force and Women Helping Women join forces for the event, scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014.

“There’s still two women that are missing. There’s very little information, and we really want the families to have some resolution,” said Stacey Moniz, executive director for Women Helping Women on Maui.

A rally is planned this afternoon to bring awareness to missing women cases on Maui. The Women Helping Women organization will host the event at 4 p.m. today fronting the Queen Kaʻahumau Center in Kahului
