Water Shutdown Scheduled for Haʻikū

The Maui Department of Water Supply is reportedly conducting the work as part of a larger capital improvement project that is scheduled for completion in July 2013.

The drought watch for Upcountry Maui was officially lifted on Friday, March 15, after nearly four years of voluntary restrictions, said County Water Department officials.

Haiku Customers Urged to Conserve Water

Water Customers in Haiku are being urged to conserve water through the weekend due to a broken pump at the Kaupakalua Well. The conservation request is intended for customers from Kokomo Road to the end of the county water system.

Dirt Reported in Water in Wailuku Neighborhood

Officials said the source of the dirt was not confirmed, however, it may have been from construction activity in the area earlier in the day.

Cloudy Water Forces Temporary Shutdown of Mahinahina Facility

Water officials say the recent heavy rains made the water too muddy to go through the filtration system. It is the second time in as many weeks that the conditions have resulted in a shutdown.

Waterline Project Affects Traffic in Happy Valley

The Department of Water Supply continues repairs on a leaking valve in Happy Valley. The work will result in impacts along North Market Street, where traffic will be reduced to a single lane of travel.
