Baldwin defeated Lahainaluna for a 27-20 MIL football victory before a crowd of 5,000 at War Memorial Stadium.

The numbers are growing for Maui-bred football players competing at the Division-I-A level.

Baldwin, Lahainaluna and Kamehameha-Maui all registered prep football victories over the weekend.

Both of the MIL’s Divison-II teams celebrated the opening weekend of league games with lopsided victories.

Baldwin and Maui High will open their high school football seasons.

Seabury Hall became the first MIL team to win a state volleyball championship when the Spartans beat Pahoa in four sets to capture the boy’s Division-II crown.

Third-seeded Seabury Hall advanced to the semifinals of the state Division-II volleyball tournament.
