Upper Kula outage update: Water restored up to Kamaʻole Rd

Water service has been restored up to Kamaʻole Road in Upper Kula. With water service restored, residents are advised to flush their water lines. If you have a separate storage tank, it is also recommended that you drain and flush the tank.

County DWS limits water conservation advisory to Upper Kula area only

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply has lifted water conservation advisories for all customer areas on Maui and Molokaʻi, with the exception of the Upper Kula area from Pilikino Place to Kanaio on Maui, where a conservation advisory remains in effect due to storm-related damage.

Maui fire crews respond to structure fire in Kanaio

Maui fire crews are responding to a structure fire in the area of Kanaio, past ʻUlupalakua along the Piʻilani Highway. This is on the slopes of Haleakalā, mauka of ʻĀhihi Kīnaʻu in South Maui. These images came into our newsroom at around 8:42 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026.

2026 Hawaiian Music Series continues at Waiola Church with Kepa Revelle-Aikala

Upcountry Maui water shortage downgraded to Stage 1

Following recent rainfall that improved surface water flows and replenished reservoirs, the County of Maui Department of Water Supply (DWS) is suspending the Stage 2 Upcountry water shortage and downgrading it to a Stage 1, effective immediately and until further notice.

Active Brush Fire in Upper Kanaio, 15 Acres Burned

Maui fire crews are currently on scene of a brush fire in the upper Kanaio area. The fire is approximately 15 acres in size and moving in thick brush with strong winds being reported.

Crews Battle Evening Fire in Upper Kanaio

As of 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, approximately two acres of heavy brush has burned in Upper Kanaio, and the fire was nearly contained at last report.
