Earth Day at Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, April 22
Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge will be celebrating Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Partners will be on site with a variety of hands on activities for attendees of all ages.
National Weather Service: May rain gauges show below average rainfall
The driest areas were on the leeward coast and in Maui’s Central Valley. Many rain gauge sites recorded less than 10% of their May average rainfall, including gauges at Keālia Pond and Kīhei 2, which had zero rainfall for the month.

Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, in partnership with ReTree Hawaiʻi, will host a ‘green fire break’ demonstration from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at the Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center parking lot.
Seabury Hall celebrates its AP Capstone Diploma recipients
At Seabury Hall, 25 students have earned the AP Capstone Diploma. The diploma is granted to students who earn a score of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choice.
National Park Service on Maui to host free workshop on federal jobs, Feb. 24
Haleakalā National Park is providing a free workshop on Feb. 24, 2024, on writing federal resumes and applying to federal jobs. The workshop will be held at the Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, located at Mile 6 of the Maui Veterans Highway in Kīhei, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Maui Invasive Species Committee hosts a teacher development workshop for K-12 teachers and environmental educators on Oct. 12 and 13 featuring the place-based Hōʻike o Haleakalā curriculum.
