Starting next week, Mayor Richard Bissen and his administration will host community budget meetings throughout Maui County for residents to share their priorities and provide input on the budget for Fiscal Year 2027, which begins July 1, 2026.

The County of Maui Department of Transportation will hold two community events on July 24 and 25, 2025, in Kīhei to provide updates on the Park Maui program and gather community input. The events aim to inform residents, businesses and visitors about the County’s new parking management initiative, which focuses on improving parking access and efficiency in high-demand areas.

The County of Maui Department of Finance will be holding a real property tax sale on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, and will continue the sale on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, if necessary. The sale will auction off properties that have been delinquent for three or more years and have received their final notice of tax sale.

The County’s Maui Emergency Management Agency is inviting residents to provide feedback on the draft 2025 Maui County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The public comment period runs from April 23 to May 8, 2025.

In coordination with the County of Maui Department of Human Concerns and the Maui Emergency Management Agency, the American Red Cross has opened several shelters on Maui this afternoon to prepare for potential severe weather impacts.

Maui fire crews quickly worked to knock down flames at a brush fire reported in an empty lot in Kīhei on Tuesday afternoon. The fire was reported at 12:11 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, along South Kīhei Road near the Walaka Street intersection.

The Maui Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with the American Red Cross has opened the Kīhei Community Center as an emergency shelter to those affected by the heavy rain and flooding in South Maui.  The shelter is located at 303 East Līpoa Street in central Kīhei.
