Lahainaluna High School’s ‘Davida Malo Day Celebration’ set for April 25
For over six decades, Lahainaluna High School has carried on the traditions of the annual Lā Davida Malo, Davida Malo Day celebration. This celebration not only honors Davida Malo, a graduate and Hawaiian scholar, it also honors the legacy set forth by those who have come before, and the kuleana to perpetuate this tradition for generations to come.
Lahaina Think Space unveiled at Lahainaluna High School with cultural blessing
Maui Public Art Corps and the County of Maui unveiled the new Lahaina Think Space on April 1, with a traditional blessing led by Uncle Bill Garcia and hosted by Sissy Lake-Farm, Cultural Consultant for Maui Public Art Corps. The gathering marked the opening of a month-long interactive residency at Lahainaluna High School designed to center student voices and community storytelling as part of early conversations surrounding Lahaina’s future memorial spaces.

$10,000 in scholarships available for Lahainaluna seniors and alumni
Applications are now open for a total of $10,000 in scholarships available to Lahainaluna High School seniors and alumni for the 2026–2027 school year, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s Scholarship Committee announced.
Monday Morning MIL: 3 wrestlers from Moloka‘i, Baldwin, Lahainaluna win state championships
Jona Dudoit’s win in the 126-pound final was the first state title for the Moloka‘i boys team since 2005. From the MIL, Lahainaluna senior Siana Boaz-Vasquez also won the girls 140-pound crown and Baldwin senior Niko Takitani won the boys 165-pound title.

Lahainaluna Agricultural Learning Center and Treecovery forge new partnership

In response to the devastating 2023 wildfires, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos have donated $1.5 million to support Lahainaluna High School students, along with an additional $2 million to fund research aimed at mitigating future wildfire risk through vegetation management. The gift builds on an earlier generous donation from the Bezos Earth Fund to the East Maui Watershed Partnership.

Iapani “Poncho” Laloulu and Fa’anu Ma’o were always close growing up, Laloulu on O’ahu and Ma’o on Maui, but they grew closer as Ma’o’s mother, Failagi Laloulu Ma’o, battled breast cancer that first hit her in 2017 when Fa’anu was 9 years old and Poncho was 13.
