Authorities are reportedly seeking the public’s help in locating the owner of an unoccupied kayak found offshore of Maʻalaea Harbor this morning.

The entire inventory of logo merchandise from the Maui Canoe Club was reported stolen over the weekend, club officials said.

Club leaders say their sailing canoe, Hoku Holo o Ke Kai was pushed into the ocean along with its Bigfoot trolley on or around Easter Sunday. The canoe was found undamaged, but the mast was stolen.

Members of the Maui Canoe Club collaborated with a nurse at the Maui Memorial Medical Center to develop a CPR method that could be used within the confines of a canoe.

The Maui Canoe Club recently took possession of three canoes that were specifically configured for larger paddlers. The design will allow current members to train and paddle together with those identified through the program as being at risk.
