Two people aboard an 18-foot boat reported they had encountered engine trouble. They were anchored a few miles offshore of the Ukumehame area in West Maui.

The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 48-year-old man experiencing difficulty breathing while aboard the Lahaina Princess, near Molokini Crater, Maui, Tuesday.

DOCARE officers will be on hand this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27 and 28 from 8 a.m. to noon at both the Kīhei and Māla boat ramps.

Coast Guard officials say the adult was in shock, and the three children sustained only minor injuries.

The Coast Guard is seeking public help in identifying the owner of an inflatable dinghy found unmanned and floating adrift about two and a half miles west of Kāʻanapali, Maui this morning.

Crews are actively searching the area with an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point in an effort to rule out the possibility of anyone in distress.

Maui police have since identified the body of a missing snorkeler found in waters off of West Maui this morning as Son Vo, 41, of Oakland California. Police have classified the incident as a miscellaneous fatality, and say there were no signs of criminal activity surrounding Vo’s death.

Authorities are reportedly seeking the public’s help in locating the owner of an unoccupied kayak found offshore of Maʻalaea Harbor this morning.

Three Maui men are safe after they became separated from their kayaks while venturing into waters off the coast of Sugar Beach in North Kihei on Sunday, officials said.
