A preliminary investigation reveals that a black 2006 Honda Ruckus motorcycle was traveling northbound on Pūlehu Road when it veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.

The Maui Police Department requests the public’s assistance with any information on the whereabouts of Yhazmyn Shaw Burrows-Agapay, 15, of Wailuku.

The new officers are Jayson Cuaresma, Keanu Deboma, Kainoa Deguilmo, Casey James Del Rosario, Renelyn Domingo, Dalton Jardine, Kelvin Ly, Jared Madamba, Patrick McEvoy-Ng, Jacob Naganuma, Garett Rundle, Patrick Valoy, and Ekolu Watanabe.

Miller was located and transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.  The Maui Police Department thanked the public for their assistance.

A motor vehicle collision on the Kūihelani Highway Thursday morning claimed the life of a 27-year-old Kahului man. The victim has since been identified as Victor Harris.

Weems was reported missing by a concerned family member on the evening of Friday, May 8, 2026, after he failed to return from going snorkeling in the area of 100 Nohea Kai Drive in Kāʻanapali.  Weems had texted a family member at 1:30 p.m., indicating he was going snorkeling, and at approximately 3 p.m., a guest reported to hotel staff that they had observed what appeared to be a male in distress in the ocean. 

Beginning Monday, May 11, 2026, the Maui Police Department Traffic Division will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign. Motorists will see heightened traffic enforcement and patrols, which will continue through Sunday, May 31, 2026, and include the use of unmarked patrol vehicles to enforce seat belt and child passenger restraint laws.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources is investigating social media postings on Instagram that appear to show an adult male throwing an object toward a monk seal while it was swimming in the water off the Lahaina shoreline.

The Maui Police Department is alerting the public to a scam circulating via text message that falsely claims recipients have a delinquent traffic violation account and appears to originate from the District Court of Hawaiʻi.

A Molokaʻi man has died following a dog attack reported Tuesday afternoon. The incident was reported at 12 p.m. on April 14 at a home on Hoʻomalu Drive in Kaunakakai.

The Maui Police Department hosts a child safety seat inspection event within the Maui Marketplace parking lot on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9 to 1 p.m., weather permitting. Organizers say a properly installed child safety seat can reduce the risk of fatal injury by up to 71%.

Beginning Monday, April 6, and continuing through April 13, 2026, motorists will see heightened traffic enforcement as part of the departmentʻs participation in the national “Put the Phone Away or Pay” campaign for distracted driving awareness enforcement.

A probationary employee of the Maui Police Department was arrested on suspicion of second, third and fourth degree sexual assault, while off duty, police said.  The 26-year-old Makawao man was taken into custody on Monday, March 30, 2026, following allegations of sexual abuse and remains detained. He has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

Maui police have since identified the victim in Sunday’s fatal stabbing incident as James Moser, 64, of Kīhei.  The Maui Police Department extended condolences to Moser’s family and friends.

The Maui Police Department, in coordination with local mortuaries and healthcare partner, is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating next of kin for several deceased individuals within Maui County. These individuals remain unclaimed and are currently under the custody of the respective agencies listed below.

At approximately 11:40 a.m., the woman was reportedly attempting to gather water using a basket when she fell into the river. Due to recent heavy rains, the river was flowing rapidly at the time. According to a witness, she became fully submerged and has not been seen since.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, at approximately 8:24 a.m., officers with the Maui Police Department responded to a residence on Anapa Place in Kīhei for a reported Abuse of Family or Household Member type incident involving a 41-year-old Wailuku man.

The Maui Police Department is alerting the public to a recurring scam circulating via text message that falsely claims recipients have unpaid traffic citations and appears to originate from the Hawaiʻi Department of Motor Vehicles.
