Hawaiian Electric crews are continuing inspections and repairs in flooded areas of Oʻahu. In some North Shore neighborhoods, crews have seen stains or lines on homes that show how high the floodwaters rose.

HECO 5 p.m. update: 122 without power on Oʻahu’s North Shore; 92 in Maui County

Hawaiian Electric has restored power to almost all customers who were impacted by back-to-back Kona low weather systems. These systems have pummeled the state with gusty winds, heavy rains and catastrophic flooding since March 11.

HECO 9 a.m. update: Power restoration continues on Oʻahu’s North Shore; pocket outages in Hāna, Maui

Hawaiian Electric crews continue to assess circuits that were proactively turned off Friday due to catastrophic flooding in the North Shore area of Oʻahu. On Maui, about 100 customers are without power. Two crews are working in Hāna to address storm-related pocket outages.

HECO 8 p.m. update: 3,300 customers on Oʻahu’s North Shore without electricity, Crews responding to outage in Waiheʻe, Maui

About 3,300 customers in the North Shore, O‘ahu flood zone are expected to remain without electricity until assessment and repairs can be completed. On Maui, crews are currently responding to an outage in the Waihe‘e area affecting about 1,000 customers.

HECO 5 p.m. update: 2,530 still without power, including 400 on Maui

About 400 customers remain without power islandwide as crews continue working on restorations. Hawaiian Electric is contacting some customers who should prepare for their outage to extend into next week due to the forecasted storm conditions. Some key repairs involve helicopter use and crews hiking into certain areas, which will need to be stopped in adverse weather and potential flooding.

HECO 7:30 p.m. update: Nearly 1,000 on Maui still without power

Crews are still working to restore about 1,000 customers without power. About 240 of these customers are in East Maui and are experiencing extended outages that could last several days pending favorable weather conditions as crews must repair 20 damaged poles and multiple spans of downed lines.

HECO 9 p.m. update: 7,600 customers without electricity, including 2,400 on Maui

Crews restored the majority of Kula customers from Lower Kula Highway to Keokea Place. More than 3,500 customers were restored today, however, about 2,400 customers remain without power. In Kīhei, mud and debris are being cleared to inspect and make any repairs to underground facilities that could restore 600 customers. In East Maui, including pockets of Ha‘ikū, about 300 customers should continue to prepare for extended overnight outages due to ongoing damage assessments and repairs.

HECO 9 p.m. update: 86,000 still without power on Oʻahu, Maui County and Hawaiʻi Island

About 7,300 customers, or 10% of total customers, remain out in various areas, including Upcountry, South, and East Maui. Crews restored more than half of the 20,000 customers impacted by the storm across the county throughout the day. Damage assessments and potential repairs are being stalled due to flash flooding, downed trees, and road closures like the one caused by a massive sinkhole in South Maui.

HECO 12 p.m. update: 111,000 still without power on Oʻahu, Maui County and Hawaiʻi Island

About 10,000 customers remain out in various areas as crews restored half of affected customers in parts of South and Upcountry Maui this morning. Crews rerouted service to about 4,000 South Maui customers who lost power due to a large sinkhole along S. Kīhei Road around 4:50 a.m. today.

Hawaiian Electric asks customers to remain prepared for extended outages

Customers across Oʻahu, Maui County and Hawaiʻi Island are asked to continue to plan for possible extended outages, potentially overnight, as the powerful storm system is expected to make its way across the island chain throughout the weekend.

Hawaiian Electric has re-energized all West Maui circuits impacted by the Public Safety Power Shutoff program. At this time, all customers who can have power restored safely should have electricity. However, a PSPS Watch remains in effect for parts of Maui and Hawaiʻi Island.

6 p.m. update: Power restored to more than 114,000 customers since Saturday

In Maui County, crews are working to restore power to approximately 470 customers, primarily in Upcountry Maui and Molokaʻi. About 50 customers in Olinda will remain without power overnight due to the severe wind gusts and falling trees in the area.

8 a.m. update: Power restored to 80% of customers who experienced outages overnight

Crews are repairing a broken pole and downed lines in the Pi‘iholo, Upcountry area to restore about 230 customers and are also responding to other pocket outages. Around 6:45 a.m. today, crews restored power to about 960 customers in parts of Makawao who were out overnight due to strong winds and heavy rain that brought down a pole and power lines.

Hawaiian Electric prepared to respond to severe weather impacts this weekend

As of 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, there were around 70 customers without electricity on Oʻahu, and no outages on Hawaiʻi Island or in Maui County. More than 4,000 customers on Oʻahu who had been without power at some point during the day have had electricity restored.

As of 8 a.m. today, about 300 customers on Oʻahu and 2,000 customers on Maui remain without electricity. Crews have also been addressing pocket outages on Hawaiʻi Island.

Outage knocks out power to 7,000+ on Maui

More than 7,000 customers were without power due to an outage impacting customers from Wailuku to Kahakuloa on Monday night. Some areas of Wailuku had power restored by 9 p.m.

Update/power restored: Outage knocks out power to 3,824 customers on Maui

Around 11 a.m. today, approximately 3,800 customers in parts of Waikapu and Wailuku experienced an outage when tree trimmers accidentally dropped a branch on the lines. Around this time, there also was a pocket outage in Wailuku that impacted some County facilities and businesses on High Street, Wells Street, and Main Street. This outage was a suspected underground cable fault.

New toll-free numbers to report outages on Hawaiʻi Island and Maui County

Hawaiian Electric is improving its outage reporting system on Hawaiʻi Island and in Maui County. As part of the new system, the current phone numbers to report outages will be replaced with new toll-free numbers, effective May 8, 2025.

As of 11:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, there were more than 2,000 customers that remained without power in Maui County out of about 72,000 accounts. The outages are spread out in various parts of the island including parts of Kula, Makawao, Haʻikū, Piʻiholo and Olinda.
