Road Maintenance and Repairs Planned Across Maui

The state Department of Transportation continues road work at several spots across the island that includes maintenance, utility installations, and repaving of roadways.

The Department of Water Supply will conduct road work on Ka‘ ahumanu Avenue in front of Maui Mall today, Feb. 4. The two lanes going toward Hāna Highway will be blocked until approximately 2 p.m. today, until the work is completed. Traffic flow on Ka‘ ahumanu Avenue heading toward Wailuku will not be affected.

Kīhei Man Hospitalized After Overnight Crash on Mokulele

Police say the involvement of alcohol is suspected, however an investigation is still pending. A 40-year-old Kīhei man was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries following a motor vehicle crash reported overnight on the Mokulele Highway.

(Update: 6:45 p.m. 12/4/14) Front Street in Lahaina in now open. It was closed earlier this evening due to flooding caused by a broken water main.

Maui Traffic: Hāna Highway Night Work at Wailua Valley

Night work begins on the Hāna Highway in the Wailua Valley area of East Maui this week. The work to repair an existing drainage crossing will result in a road closure between the Wailua Valley Lookout near mile marker 19 and Puaʻa Kaʻa State Park at Mile 22.

Pine, Ironwood Tree Removal to Affect Traffic in Hāna Town

Crews will remove five Cook Pine trees and 11 Ironwood trees that are decaying and are at risk of falling.

An 18-year-old Kula man was medevaced to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with life threatening injuries following a single-vehicle collision on the Piʻilani Highway just south of Upper Kanaio Road near Ulupalakua.

Rollover Accident in Māʻalaea, Expect Delays

UPDATE: TRAFFIC ADVISORY MĀʻALAEA: 10:30 a.m. Emergency crews remain on the scene of a rollover accident on the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Māʻalaea. A van was still on its side blocking Lahaina bound traffic at last report.

Heavy Rains over Haleakalā Prompt Maui Flood Advisory

A flood advisory for Maui has been extended to 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014. Forecasters with the National Weather Service say radar at 9:20 p.m. showed that rainfall had diminished over the Windward East Maui area; but the flood advisory remains in effect as ponding and runoff continues from heavy rains earlier in the evening.
