Inclement weather forces closure of Maui County pools and municipal golf course
The County of Maui’s Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that due to heavy rains and flooding, the Waiehu Municipal Golf Course is closed and will remain closed through Monday, Dec. 19, 2022. Storm-generated lightning has also closed all Maui County pools.

An estimated 1,250 gallons of wastewater overflowed on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, when strong winds knocked out power and caused an equipment failure at the Waiehu Pump Station, county officials said.

2.4 Inches of Rain Overnight in Parts of Maui County
Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe had the greatest rainfall rates in Maui County with more than 2.4 inches of rain recorded at both locations over the time frame as a line of heavy rain and thunderstorms prompted a special weather statement on Monday night.

Forecasters with the NWS say radar at around 6 p.m., showed moderate to heavy showers moving into the windward side of the island, with stationary heavy rain over the West Maui Mountains, up-slope from Wailuku to Waihee.
