An estimated 2-3 acres of brush burned during an afternoon fire on Molokaʻi over the weekend. The incident was reported at 2:24 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in an area above Kaunakakai town.
Progress made as firefighters battle large brushfire near Molokaʻi Airport
The Molokaʻi fire is approximately 60% contained at about 100 acres as of 5 p.m., according to Maui Fire Department. There are no active threats, evacuation advisories or road closures at this time, and there are no reports of injuries. MFD continues to mop up and strengthen containment lines around the fire. Acreage and containment estimates may fluctuate as assessments are made. The cause of the fire is under investigation by MFD. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant as fire conditions are subject to change.
Molokaʻi fire burns 50 acres, declared 100% contained
Maui fire crews continue to battle a brush fire on Molokaʻi that has burned 50 acres since it was first reported at 1:41 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 in the area of 40 Maunaloa Road.
